The Energy of Spring: Why Your Body Feels Different Right Now

We all are now feeling the wonderful benefits of Spring. As we transition out of the slower, inward energy of winter, our bodies are naturally beginning to reawaken. During the colder months we often move less, spend more time indoors, and our nervous system can become accustomed to a quieter, more contracted rhythm.

Spring invites the opposite — movement, growth and expansion.

While this rising energy can feel uplifting, our nervous system and physical body sometimes need a little support to adapt smoothly to this seasonal shift.

Perhaps you’re already experiencing …

  • The new warmth of the sun bringing a smile to our face
  • The sense of renewed energy- wanting to spring clean, garden or go for long walks.
  • Your body naturally waking earlier and going to bed later (your circadian rhythm or natural body clock)
  • Renewed sense of creativeness – planning events and projects, creating artwork, or a new direction in life.

But when this powerful rising spring energy struggles to find its natural flow, we may experience:

  • Irritability or frustration
  • Feeling overwhelmed with ideas but unsure where to begin
  • Tension in the neck, shoulders or jaw
  • Digestive discomfort or bloating
  • Emotional ups and downs as the body adjusts to the new season
  • Periods of excess energy, followed by tiredness or exhaustion

The key in Eastern wisdom is gentle movement and flow — allowing this rising energy to move through us rather than forcing it.

A few simple ways you can support yourself during this seasonal transition:

  • Spend time outside in the morning light to gently reset your body clock
  • Stretch the body regularly — especially the sides of the body, hips and shoulders
  • Allow yourself creative expression without needing a finished outcome
  • Drink warm water with lemon to support digestion and liver energy
  • Take slow mindful walks and notice signs of new life around you
  • Hum or tone gently with your voice — vibration helps move stagnant energy

This is also a powerful time to receive supportive treatments that help your nervous system and energy body adjust to the changing season.

My sound healing and reflexology sessions work beautifully at this time of year to help release held up tension and stress, calm the nervous system and restore a sense of inner flow.

Therapies such as sound healing and reflexology can be particularly supportive at the changing of the seasons.

During this time of year, sound healing can help the body release the heaviness of winter, allowing energy to circulate more freely again. The vibrations from instruments such as singing bowls, tuning forks and vocal tones can gently encourage the body to let go of accumulated stress while supporting emotional balance. Many people feel more grounded, energised and focussed for their upcoming life goals.

Reflexology also works in a different but beautifully complementary way.

By applying pressure to specific points on the feet that correspond to organs and systems of the body, reflexology encourages improved circulation, relaxation and balance within the nervous and hormonal systems. Many people find reflexology especially helpful when they are feeling run down, emotionally overwhelmed, or physically tense.

In spring, Reflexology can be particularly supportive for areas that may feel the seasonal shift most strongly — including the digestive system, liver energy, hormonal balance and stress response.

When Sound Healing and reflexology are combined, they offer a deeply nurturing way to support both the physical body and the energetic system, helping you align more gently with the natural rhythms of the season.

Spring is a time of renewal and possibility, but it doesn’t need to be rushed or forced. With the right support, this rising energy can become a beautiful source of creativity, clarity and forward movement in your life.
